Painting your Plastercraft Piece

1. Decide what colors you want your item to be. Start with light colors first. Wash brushes with water between colors. If you make a mistake allow color to dry (approximately 5 min.) Then cover with desired color.

2. If you are using matte finish paints you must apply a clear acrylic spray or use a paint on glaze. Allow to dry at least 30 minutes. If you are using Gloss finish paints this step is not necessary.

3. Enjoy your finished Plastercraft!

Applying Shade Cakes
Using Shade Cakes creates a soft finish on your Plastercraft piece. There are a couple of different ways to use them. Here are 2 different techniques.

Technique 1
1. Prepare your Plastercraft piece.

2. Using a stiff dry paint brush load color onto brush. Start with light colors first and work up to darker colors. Remember when using this technique you will not have clean straight lines. Shade-cakes create a soft finish where the colors should slightly run into each other.

3. Because the brush must be dry when doing this technique you must clean your brush between colors by loading the brush with a white Shade Cake and wipe off on a paper towel until all color comes out. When you are finished working for the day you may clean your brush with soap and water.

4. When piece is complete spray with matte finish. If you desire a gloss finish you can spray that over the matte spray. Do not apply the gloss spray directly over Shade-cakes. Doing this will cause the colors to run.

Technique 2
This technique is to use Shade-cakes over painted colors as a highlight. For example if you painted something with a person on it and you want to give them rosy cheeks or shade their hair. This is a way for your pieces to easily have a professional look.

1. Your piece should be prepared and painted using Perfect Color Matte or Gloss finish paints.

2. Using a dry stiff brush loaded with your Shade-cake colo, brush onto desired area of your piece. The Shade-cake color should be darker than the paint.

3. Spray with a matte finish. If you desire a gloss. Finish you can spray that over the matte spray. Do not apply the gloss spray directly over Shade-cakes. Doing this will cause the Shade-cake color to run.
